β-Caryophyllene

β-Caryophyllene contributes to the aroma of black pepper, and can be found in many cannabis cultivars. This terpene interacts with CB2 receptors, demonstrating a strong potential to synergistically modulate the effects of various cannabinoids.

Study β-Caryophyllene.

  • β-Caryophyllene ameliorates cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity in a cannabinoid 2 receptor-dependent manner

  • The cannabinoid receptor 2 agonist, β-caryophyllene, reduced voluntary alcohol intake and attenuated ethanol-induced place preference and sensitivity in mice

  • β-Caryophyllene, a natural sesquiterpene lactone attenuates hyperglycemia mediated oxidative and inflammatory stress in experimental diabetic rats

  • Beta-caryophyllene modulates expression of stress response genes and mediates longevity in Caenorhabditis elegans
